Greers Ferry Lake Spring Adventure Tour & Challenge

Hello Spring Vacationers and Welcome to the
Greers Ferry Lake & Little Red River Spring “Be Natural in Nature” Adventure Tour and Challenge.

Overview | Southshore Tour | Northshore Tour | T.R.A.I.L.S.

This tour and challenge is for all Spring Vacationers, but primary and secondary school kids will perhaps enjoy the learning experiences of the challenges the most. This Adventure Tour is also self-guided. You can complete at your own pace and ability level. There are two different Adventure Tours to choose from.

The Self-Guided Tour options are:
1. Greers Ferry Lake Southshore & Little Red River Adventure Tour
2. Greers Ferry Lake Northshore Adventure Tour

The Adventure Challenges are:
There are three Challenges all with the theme of Being Natural in Nature. You can choose just one of the challenges or all all three.

1. Be Natural in Nature. The first challenge is to limit your use of your cell phones during the day while your experiencing the Great Outdoors (GO) in our area. If you don’t think that’s possible try to go a half day or choose to check your phone once every 3 hours. Do whatever you think you can do, but the challenge is to enjoy a full day of our Great Outdoors (GO) without using your CP while doing it. The goal is to experience nature naturally without the interuptions or distractions of modern life. Suggestions: If you want to take photos choose to do it at the beginning or end of each experience vs throughout so you can fully enjoy nature. Or, if you enjoy a beautiful scenic view and your finding it hard to resist the photo try to soak it all in first before opting to do so.

2. Observe and Learn More About Nature. This is the second challenge. How much of nature do you see? A bird with different colors, creepy crawleys, butterflies, rock formations, different trees, flowers or even moss? You will naturally learn about wildlife and the history of the area as you talk to locals and folks at the visitor center, Indian Rock Cabin, and other points of interest along the tour. Parent Note: Please see the resources listed at the end of this information that includes wildlife information and additional learning activities for kids.

3. Safety in the Great Outdoors (GO). This is your third challenge. Do you know the basic safety guidelines when you choose to enjoy a nature hike, or simply walk a trail? We’ve provided a handy HAPPY T.R.A.I.L.S. reference guide to help you with the basics. Be sure there is at least one person with you or your group that is the dedicated “safety” who can share this information with everyone.

Resources:
Wildlife: Below is a very large reference guide (over 100 pages) that includes a multitude of wildlife you may catch a glimpse of along the trails in our area. It is in black and white for ease of printing certain pages and has many learning activities. If you don’t reference it this time around keep it for future use.
